New Store News

Fat Chix is transitioning from a larger shop to a smaller footprint (think ‘Tiny House’). As of April 1st, we will be located in the back of the shop and outside (summer months) of the shop. Our address remains the same 312 Beechtree. The new phone number beginning February 1st is (616)-502-3986. With this smaller space, we’ll need to downsize product and displays. Therefore, we will be running a sale from Tuesday, January 23rd through Wednesday, January 31st. Everything will be 60% OFF. Our new plan will include weekly E-Bay, the ‘tiny shop’ (which will still be a hub for ordering your gif baskets) and 4 or 5 weekend Barn Sales a year at my home (approx. 7 miles out in the country).

We’re looking forward to our new approach and hope to include all of you in the years’ ahead.
Thanks for your Support!

Big News and Changes on the Horizon

Beechtree & Grant

How are we moving along on the Corner of Beechtree and Grant? As anyone who is perceptive has been able to feel, our little corner of Grand Haven is in flux. Tom Erickson from Erickson Electric, has recently sold his business. (Congrats Tom!) Tom is our landlord in the Gift Shop. Upon asking him his selling price for our building, he informed us that he is hoping to sell the Electric company building and the green house together. The new owners of his business have 1st rights and are currently holding a one-year lease. (We are 2nd in line). We will still be operating as a business whether we are on this site or not.

Another variable for us was the hot dog shop. Angel is leaving us on November 9th. We are so grateful to her for carrying us through our 1st year. The plan is for Mary to take over the hot dog world. She will be opening at 6:30 am with brewed coffee, chai tea, hot chocolate, and aulaits. Plan on the addition of a breakfast dog or two and a whole lot of ‘banter’. That is of course what she does best! Our menu will be expanding too. The addition of baked potatoes with toppings and Topped Mac & Cheese will hit the menu board. Two soups will be featured weekly. Everything being homemade. While we are adding to the menu and looking forward to the continuation of our little ‘Fleabags’ we are also putting it up for sale. “That is an incongruous thought”, you say. Yes and no. We are primarily concerned with the wellness of the Eastside communities. A little restaurant (or maybe a coffee shop returning) is, in our estimations what this corner still needs. Maybe we are the right team to move it forward and maybe not. What we are good at is building community and welcoming change. If a great fit for the shop comes along with vision and commitment we’ll let it go. If not, we’ll stay. We love the Eastside and look forward to continued involvement for years to come. Stay tuned!

And make sure to follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with the latest news and things going on with the store.

Fleabags Opening Soon

flea-bags-logo Fleabags, “Tastiest Dogs in Town” will be opening soon in the old Fat Chix/Electric Hero location. The tiny space is getting revamped to have more comfortable, indoor seating for the colder months and of course, has ample outside seating when its warm outside. We are hoping to be open this October if all goes well so stay tuned!

Walk the Beat & Party

2016-Walk-The-Beat-LogoStore updates: We will be having a birthday party at the store for Jamie (Mary’s husband) on August 20 from 12-4pm. Refreshments and cake of course! Jamie is recovering very well from his surgery so thank you to all who sent prayers and positive vibes his way.
Walk the Beat is also on August 20 and we are a music venue this year so there will also be live music that day!

Also we will be doing a community art project again. Updates to come soon!

Eastend Pickers Update

Eastend Pickers will be moved permanently to the Fat Chix store parking lot for Saturday July 16 and the rest of 2016. We will have plenty of space and parking along the road. We just don’t have enough people to fill up Bolt Park at this time.

If you are interested in selling at Eastend Pickers, all you have to do is bring your own table and set up! There is no fee. It’s FREE! It’s very important that you bring your own table as we will not have extras. If you do not have a table, Redi Rental across the street has them to rent.

We are planning to have Eastend Pickers the first and third Saturday of the month from August – October 8:30 am to 2 pm . Eastend Pickers is all about the used, old, vintage and antique.

April Store and Event Updates

We are expanding the store! Soon the front part of the old house we are in will be open! Stop in and see the progress! Lots of neat little rooms to explore.
Also EASTEND PICKERS is this Saturday, April 16 from 8:30 am to 3 pm in Bolt Park on Beechtree Street in Grand Haven.
The Bolt Park market will also start up the first Tuesday in May (May 3) from 4-8 pm.
Spring is arriving! It looks like it’s going to be a great weekend.
